Los Angeles Azules

Saturday, April 18, 2020, 3:00 AM

Los Ángeles Azules are an innovative, influential Mexican band that performs cumbia sonidera, a variation of Colombian cumbia with accordion and synthesizer effects -- '50s-'70s cumbia-meets-electronic music. The group came together in 1976, formed by members of the Mejia Avante family, playing onda grupera. They had a hit in 2013 with "Cómo Te Voy a Olvidar," have re-recorded many of their hits with guest performers Carla Morrison, Lila Downs and Ximena Sariñana, and in 2014 created a new genre, cumbia sinfónica, when they performed with the Mexico City Symphony Orchestra.
